Pregnancy during the COVID-19

What was meant to be a unique and completely happy experience few months ago, has converted today in doubts and worries, however, the long-awaited arrival of a new member in our lives does not cease to thrill us. And many women and couples will ask themselves, “Won’t I be able to do my pregnancy session now? What alternative do I have to keep this moment forever with beautiful photographs?

Well, let me tell you a little about what Jonathan and I, the photographers of Underground Studio Puerto Vallarta, did. 

It’s ironic that two photographers have waited for this moment so bad and wanted to have their own pregnancy photos but because of the contingency, boutiques where to buy a nice dress were closed, beauty salons too so no spectacular makeup, as well as the beautiful beaches of the paradise we live in.

So how do we make our own photos?

While pregnant during those difficult times of COVID-19, what you want the least is to put yourself at risk in places with many people or see people you don’t know for your personal care. That’s why we decided to go to a place close to our house, where there was no people, and the fields, surrounded by huge trees, dirt roads and the warm reflection of the sun would become the ideal background for us to take original shots.

It was not necessary to wear a big dress, nor to defy the laws breaking into a temporarily closed beach. Just to use our imagination and create a country style, with clothes we always had at home and arrange the hairs a little bit in a free and natural way, plus a touch of red lipstick to contrast with the green, yellow and blue colors the fields offers. 

We also did an indoor session with artificial lighting, where all the clothing was black, but the accessories filled that absence of color with some beautiful Huichol artwork that gave our pregnancy identity and originality.

This is how we had a creative pregnancy photo session during those days of COVID-19.
